Our good friend Aaron Strasser – bartender-in-chief at A Tavola, part-time model, and all-around great guy, recently came by the shop to help us kick off the start of the holiday season, and he brought with him a cocktail that can only be described as legendary.
Inspired by Article and crafted from smoked bourbon, rosemary-infused simple syrup, and peschaud bitters, the “Genuine Article” is like taking a sip directly from the cup of manhood. Imagine a mid-Fall hike to a grove of wild Rosemary surrounded by rich oak wood – that’s what this drink tastes like.
Here’s how you make it . . .
2 oz smoked Bulleit Bourbon
1 oz rosemary-infused maple syrup
few dashes of Peychaud bitters
sprig of fresh rosemary
You’ll need a proper smoker to smoke the bourbon. Aaron used the house smoker at A Tavola and placed the bourbon inside for an hour. For the rosemary infusion, place a sprig of fresh rosemary into the maple syrup for at least a week. Use some filtered water to cut down the syrup so it’s pourable. You want to to be hearty – but not thick.
Mix the bourbon and syrup. Pour into a rocks glass loaded with an ice chunk or a few ice cubes. Add a few dashes of bitters. Lightly stir. Add a sprig of fresh rosemary. Enjoy the taste of manhood.
